									<p>Coliemore Harbour served as Dublin&#8217;s port in Medieval Times. The granite piers date from the 1870s. Dalkey island has been inhabited from neolithic times and contains the ruins of an early Christian church as well as 19th century fortifications.</p>								</div>

									<p>The East Pier of Dun Laoghaire Harbour is 1300m in length and constructed of granite from Dalkey Quarry.  Construction began in 1817 and was completed with the building of the lighthouse in 1842.  The gun battery guarding the entrance to the harbour was added in 1859.</p><p>The harbour contains Dun Laoghaire Marina and is home to four yacht clubs.</p>								</div>

									<p>Sandycove Harbour was from where Dalkey granite was shipped across the bay during the construction of the Great South Wall and Howth Harbour in the late 18th century. Dublin’s first lifeboat station, now part of &#8216;Neptune Lodge&#8217;, was located here from 1803. The Martello Tower which overlooks it was built in 1804 and was briefly the home of the author Oliver St. John Gogarty. It was immortalised in the opening chapter of Joyce’s “Ulysses”. It now houses the James Joyce Museum. &#8216;Geragh&#8217;, the former home of the architect Michael Scott. it was built 1937 in the modernist style.</p>								</div>
